ALLEN John Edward VX26829 D Coy F Force

ALLEN John Edward was born on 29 May 1902 in Chingford, England. Later in life, they migrated to Australia, settling in Victoria prior to the Second World War.

John was married to Glynis, worked as a truck driver and lived in Shepparton at the time of enlistment.

He was posted as a Private to the Battalion and assigned to D Company.

Pte ALLEN was captured by Japanese forces following the fall of Singapore and spent three and a half years as a prisoner of war. He survived captivity and returned to Australia in October 1945.

John ALLEN died on 1 January 1970.
