Andrew Coffey travelled to Malaysia in April 2018 to follow the footsteps of my father and the 2/29th Battalion.

Diane Tuck, daughter of Stan Rossiter, undertook a personal pilgrimage planned specifically track Pond's Party's journey, plus the route of my father's medical evacuation with other sick men on the Kwai Noi and on the completed railway to Kanchanaburi.

Just before the 2016 Melbourne Cup, a timely presentation was arranged with the cooperation of Waverley RSL and our Association. Charles Lewis, a recent new member of the Association presented an illustrated talk and made available an updated edition of his booklet ‘The Exceptional Melbourne Cup’.

A group of 2/29th Battalion Association members set out on a journey enthused by Doug Ogden and Kerry Barker and motivated by ‘The Exceptional Melbourne Cup’ written by Charles Lewis. The aim was to commemorate the running of the Tavoy Melbourne Cup that was run and organized by members of the 2/29th Battalion as POW’s, 75 years ago.
