James MITCHELL was born on 27 July 1910 in Bruthen, Victoria. James was a farmer from Leongatha when he enlisted on 9 July 1940. He was posted to the 2/29th Battalion on 29 November 1940 from the 2/7 training battalion.

James died a prisoner of war on 22 August 1943.
