Private Robert DONWEY was born on 3 March 1908 in Mirboo North. When he enlisted on 3 July 1940 he lived in Trafalgar, was married and listed his occupation as a Drover.

Robert was posted to the 2/29th on 29 November 1940 from the 2/8 training battalion.

He returned to Australia following the war in October 1945.
