Pte Harold Birch was born 14 October 1917 in Cobram. He enlisted on 7 May 1941 and was posted to the 2/29th on 3 July 1941.

Harold embarked for Singapore with the Battalion on 14 August 1941.

Pte Birch was wounded in action in January 1942, evacuated by Hosp. Ship to 12 AGH and returned to Australia in April 1942. He was discharge on 22 April 1942.
