Pte Leonard Pavey LEMKE was born in Albury on 28 December 1917.

He was posted to the 2/29th on 21 November 1940 and embarked for Singapore with the Battalion in August 1941.

Leonard was detached from the 2/29 to the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders on 3 November 1941, rejoining the unit on 1.12.1941. On 18 December 1941 Pte Lemke was taken of strength of 2/2 MAC ex 2/29th.

Following the fall of Singapore he was a prisoner of war, returning to Australia in September 1945.
