Battle of Muar Commemoration, Shrine of Remembrance

It was great to be able to come together at the 2/29th Battalion AIF Association Battle of Muar Commemoration Service held at the Shrine on Sunday 17 January 2021.

The address was given by Katie Lovett, great granddaughter of Captain Charles Lovett and recipient of Ben Hackney Testamentary Trust Education Grant in 2020.

The wreath was laid by Diane Tuck, daughter of Pte. Stanley Rossiter.

Gary Simmons, son of Lieut. Philip Simmons read to Ode of Remembrance.

COVID restrictions were in place so limited numbers of people were able to attend the service in the sanctuary and we were unable to access the foyer for our normal gathering.

A very memorable morning tea was held in the grounds of the Shrine followed the service. Very as we shared juice/water and a range of morning tea delights.
