The 2/29th Battalion Association has an ongoing responsibility to remember, honour and respect the memory of the Men of the Battalion.
The men in life, while POW’s and after the War ended, continued to support each other.
As all the Men have now passed away, we strive to continue to remember and support their memory.
We want to ensure that any graves of Men of the Battalion are not neglected or forgotten.
Their resting places deserve to be maintained, visited on occasions, a flag or flowers left and the grave area cleaned or weeded as required.
We wish to be advised of any graves that you may be aware of anywhere around Australia of Men of the Battalion.
We will be also seeking volunteers to attend to any of these graves as required.
Obviously many families still attend to graves of the Men, but sometimes due to distance, illness or no existing family, graves can fall into disrepair.
We are aware of the grave of Cpl Stanley Alfred BARKER VX 41773 HQ Company, who died at Muar 22/1/1942. His family placed a plaque on the family grave at Brighton Cemetery in Melbourne.
Our President was pleased to meet with his two granddaughters at the site prior to Anzac Day this year for a flag ceremony.
Obviously Stanleys grave is in good order and his Granddaughter's care for it.
But we have since attended at the cemetery and places flowers and a flag in his honour.
Should you be aware of any graves that may need attention please contact the Committee
