BATTLE OF MUAR 1942 HONOR ROLL "A" COY 2/29 BN KILLED IN ACTION

This aluminium plaque commemorates the names of soldiers from 'A' company 2/29 Battalion, killed at the battle of Muar in Malaya, 18-22 January 1942.

The plinth bears a representation of the 2/29 colour patch. Around the cross and badge are

'BATTLE OF MUAR 1942 HONOR ROLL "A" COY 2/29 BN KILLED IN ACTION'.

The following names are listed : Lieutnenant Colonel Robinson VD, CO (sic - should read Robertson), Major Oliff, Captain F E McNaughton, Lieutenant M M Calvert, Corporals B H Uren, C B Vahland and R A Dennett, Privates A Blanchard, T L Bowden, K H Bourke, G R V Burgess, J Carmichael (Private Jack Carmichael actually survived captivity and was discharged on 18 February 1946), S J Dalton, T W Eslick, A C Enke, F Gill, R S Hinson, R C Holden, W A House, A L Littlewood, F J Malone, N Marendos, A C Marshall, G M (should be G N) McArthur, H F (should be P) Murtagh, J A Rands, B Woodhead and A C West.

This plaque was made in Changi, Singapore, by an unknown Australian prisoner of war after February 1942.
